One in Four Americans Will Contract Venereal Disease

According to the New York Times, one in every five people, or 56,000,000 Americans, are currently infected with a sexually transmitted viral disease. i.e. genital herpes, Hepatitis B, Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) or HIV disease. Quoting a study published by the Alan Guttmacher Institute (the research arm of Planned Parenthood), the Times article noted that it is anticipated that one in every four Americans will contract a sexually transmitted disease sometime during their lifetime and that these diseases will have their maximum effect on women less than 25 years of age. The article went on to state that "12 million new sexually transmitted infections occur each year, two-thirds in people under 25 years of age and one quarter in teenagers."
Furthermore, it was noted that between 100,000 and 150,000 women become infertile yearly due to sexually transmitted diseases (i.e. gonorrhea and Chlamydia) that cause scarring and blockage of the fallopian tubes. There are estimated to be 4,000,000 new cases of Chlamydia in America yearly, 3,000,000 new cases of Trichomoniasis, 1,100,000 cases of gonorrhea, and 500,000 to 1,000,000 new cases of Human Papilloma Virus infection (which can lead to cervical carcinoma). Furthermore, there are between 200,000 and 500,000 new cases of genital herpes yearly (with 31,000,000 people presently infected), and 100,000 to 200,00 cases of Hepatitis B yearly, with 1,500,000 people currently chronically infected. Chronic Hepatitis B infection leads to cirrhosis of the liver as well as carcinoma of the liver. Chronic Hepatitis B infection is one of the major reasons for the growing number of liver transplants performed in America today. In addition, there are 120,000 new cases of syphilis yearly.
Faced with these incredible figures showing a literal explosion of sexually transmitted disease among our youth, the CDC, Joycelyn Elders (our former Surgeon General), the AIDS lobby, the Gay lobby and the entire liberal Establishment continue to demand more condom education, more condom distribution and ever more extensive, comprehensive sex education . The frightening part of the condom program is that condoms are admittedly quite ineffective in preventing the spread of HPV and Chlamydia and are only partly effective in preventing the transmission of HIV disease and pregnancy. Yet in sex education programs across America, abstaining from sexual encounters before marriage is ridiculed and scoffed at, while condom usage is lionized and touted as almost 100% safe.
For those of our readers old enough to remember the America of the 1950s and 1960s, teenage pregnancy and venereal disease was a rarity rather than the rule. The result of America's current sex education programs has been to intentionally desensitize our children to sex and to encourage rather than discourage sexual experimentation. The Planned Parenthood study (the Lou Harris poll),published in the previous issue of HIV-Watch, showed beyond question that comprehensive sex education more than doubles the sexual activity of teenagers.
Why, then, do the AIDS lobby, the Gay lobby, the NEA, and so many of our "liberal" leaders continue to insist on an obviously failed approach to teenage sexuality? Because they are in large part wicked people, and they are intentionally promoting hedonism among our children and young adults.
There is a cultural and spiritual war being fought all across America today, a war for the minds, hearts, and souls of the youth of our nation. Tragically, we are losing that battle because most Americans do not even realize that the battle is taking place, and if our nation loses the war, then the America that you and I have known and loved will cease to exist and the forces of evil and hedonism will conquer what was once the land of the free and the home of the brave.
