Dear Friend of Radio Liberty,
"Does the United States realize the meaning of opening the storehouses of the universe with the will of the Iraqi people? . . . Does it realize the meaning of every Iraqi becoming a missile that can cross to countries and cities?"
Babil, referring to Saddam Hussein's speech, Sept. 27, 1994.
"Saudi businessman Osama bin Laden has denied involvement in the attacks. But he said he fully supports such 'daring acts' . . . . Mr. bin Laden has repeatedly denounced the United States for sending troops to Arab countries and for its support of Israel. But in a statement today . . . he said that even if he was eliminated such attacks were not going to stop."
The Latest News, Sept. 2001
"My administration is determined to find, to get them running and to hunt them down, those who did this to America. They have roused a mighty giant. . . . It's time for us to win the first war of the 21st century so our children and grandchildren can live peacefully."
President George W. Bush, September 17, 2001.
" 'Not to know what has happened in the past is always to remain a child', and childish ignorance is no safe state for those who are called to fight against superhuman powers."
Iain Murray
I intended to complete my discussion of the Oklahoma City bombing this month, but the destruction of the World Trade Center buildings and the attack on the Pentagon takes precedent over that incident. Some readers will disagree with my assessment of the tragedy, but I must tell you what I believe. The assault on the World Trade Center was an assault on the financial structure of our nation; it must be addressed. Some observers note the similarity between the attack on the "twin towers" and the attack on Pearl Harbor. Recently declassified documents reveal that President Roosevelt knew of the impending attack and refused to warn the Commanders at Pearl Harbor.
On the morning of the assault on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon the major television networks suspended their scheduled programs and brought the horror of the tragedy into our homes in vivid color. We saw close-up pictures of dazed people, grieving faces, and images of those who died. We saw the two hijacked airliners crash into the twin towers, over and over again. We saw people covered with dust and blood running down the street. We saw the first tower collapse, then the second tower. Hundreds of firemen rushed into the buildings; most of them perished. We saw flames soaring above the Pentagon, and heard about the plane that crashed near Pittsburgh.
Millions of Americans watched as pillars of smoke billowed over the Manhattan skyline; many people wondered if there would be other attacks, and when they would come. A few people asked why our intelligence agencies didn't anticipate the attack, who was responsible for the carnage, and why our fighter planes didn't intercept the third airliner before it crashed into the Pentagon.
Later in the day President Bush addressed the nation. He assured us his administration would track down the cowards responsible for the attack, and deal harshly with countries that harbor terrorists.
I spent most of the day watching television. Interspersed between the heart-wrenching scenes of violence and despair was a segment that showed a group of Palestinian children celebrating the hijackers' success. The networks played the scene over and over again. My initial response was anger and bitterness at the thought that Moslem children were happy because thousands of Americans died. After I watched the scene several more times, I realized my emotions, and the emotions of everyone watching the film, were being manipulated. I thought back to the time when the networks played the video of Rodney King being beaten by two white police officers. Someone deleted the segment that showed Rodney King attacking the police, then the media played the film over and over again to convince blacks that white police officers hate them. Many Afro-Americans believe that to this day.
I began watching the unfolding drama with renewed interest. The music inflamed my feelings; the pictures provoked my passion.
I remembered three previous occasions when the networks dropped their scheduled programs and focused public opinion on a specific event. When they wanted to discredit Senator Joseph McCarthy, they broadcast the Senate Censure Hearings day after day. When they wanted to discredit President Ronald Reagan, they played the Iran-Contra Hearings day after day. When they wanted to increase racial tension, they broadcast the O.J. Simpson trial day after day. The networks did the same thing following the destruction of the twin towers. After a time I realized my mind, and the minds of millions of Americans, were being programmed to accept a war with the Moslem world. How could that be? Did someone, or some group, have foreknowledge of the assault?
Five days after the attack Report From Jerusalem revealed:
"Mosad officials traveled to Washington last month to warn the CIA and the FBI that a cell of up to 200 terrorists was planning a major operation, according to a report in the (Sunday Telegraph) here yesterday.
The paper said the Israeli officials specifically warned their counterparts in Washington that 'large-scale terrorist attacks on highly visible targets on the American mainland were imminent.' They offered no specific information about targets, but they did link the plot to Afghanistan-based terrorist Osama bin Laden, and they told the Americans there were 'strong grounds' for suspecting Iraqi involvement.
A US administration official told the paper that it was 'quite credible' that the CIA did not heed the MOSAD warning: 'It has a history of being over-cautious about Israeli information.' But the official noted that 'if this is true, then the refusal to take it seriously will mean heads will roll.'"
According to Human Events:
"The FBI and other federal law enforcement agencies knew about the presence of at least two of the terrorists in the United States, but failed to get the information to airlines. Khalid Al-Midhar and Nawaq Alhamzi, who were on Flight 77 that hit the Pentagon, were already on the so-called watch list. But federal officials failed to notify airline officials who might have been able to stop at least one of the terror attacks, reports the Los Angeles Times."
Ananova.com quoted a September 27 London Times article which said the FAA told Salman Rushdie not to fly a week before the attack. According to www.ananova.com: "The author told The Times the FAA banned him from internal flights in the US and Canada on September 3, unless airlines complied with extra security measures." The article can't be found on the Times' Web site. Did the article really appear in the Times, or did our intelligence agencies remove it to prevent the American people from learning they had foreknowledge of the attack?
Ernest Welteke, president of the German Bundesbank, believes a group of speculators knew the attack was coming. According to The New York Times, he stated:
"There have been fundamental movements in these markets (the airlines-ed), and the oil price rise just ahead of the attacks is otherwise inexplicable."
On September 12, the day after the attack, the San Francisco Chronicle reported that Mayor Willie Brown of San Francisco was called eight hours before the attack and warned that "Americans should be cautious about their travel." I verified the story with the mayor's press secretary, Ron Vinson. The Defense Language Institute in Monterey was placed on alert over a week prior to the assault, and there are unconfirmed reports our overseas embassies and military bases were warned of the possibility of a terrorist attack. Why wasn't the public warned?
Perhaps our intelligence agencies did know an attack was imminent, but did they know that terrorists planned to hijack airliners and crash them into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon?
In 1995 the Philippine police found a laptop computer that belonged to a terrorist. The computer hard drive contained information about a plan to hijack airliners and use them as bombs. It was called Project Bojinka. Bill Gertz of the Washington Times reports:
"The use of hijacked airliners as terrorist cruise missiles has been known to be a tactic used by terrorists linked to Osama Bin Laden since 1995. That's when terrorist Ramsi Youssef was captured by police in the Philippines.
Computer hard drives were recovered during the arrest that laid out plans for spectacular terrorist attacks using aircraft. . . .
The operation called for hijacking U.S.-bound commercial airliners. . . . The hijacked air- craft were to be crashed into structures in the United States, including the World Trade Center, the White House, Pentagon, the Transamerica Tower in San Francisco and the Sears Tower in Chicago. . . ."
Reed Irvine, the chairman of Accuracy in Media, has written about Project Bojinka. He commented:
". . .our media have not told us about the CIA and FBI forgetting about Project Bojinka. For that, you have to go to Australia's Sydney Morning Herald, which carried an Agence France-Presse story about it."
Did the FAA know about the threat? Rodney Stich worked for the FAA and warned them about the danger of skyjacking. He told them the cockpit doors weren't secure, and pilots should be allowed to carry weapons. The FAA refused to implement his suggestions, and when it became apparent the threat was real, they blocked efforts to arm pilots, or place air marshals on planes. Why? Rodney Stich described his years with the FAA in a recent Radio Liberty interview, and in his book, The Real Unfriendly Skies.
According to an October 1, 2001, article in Newsweek magazine, the FBI had several of the terrorists under surveillance, and was intercepting their communications. The terrorists wrote such things as:
"There is a big thing coming," " They're going to pay the price," and "We're ready to go."
FBI officials claim they didn't recognize the significance of the messages until after the attack.
Did FBI officials know that Arabs were being trained as Kamikaze pilots? The same issue of Newsweek magazine reveals they did. Zacarias Moussaoui was a 33-year-old, foreign-born Arab:
". . .he acknowledged that the biggest plane he'd ever flown was a single-engine Cessna. But he asked to be trained on a 747 flight simulator. He wanted to concentrate only on the midair turns, not the takeoffs and landings. It was all too fishy to one of the instructors,
who tipped off the Feds. Incarcerated because his visa had expired, Moussaoui was sitting in the Sherburne County Jail when some other pilot trainees drove their hijacked airliners into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon."
Our intelligence agencies knew about Project Bojinka, and they knew that Zacarias Moussaoui was learning to fly a 747 but wasn't interested in learning takeoff or landing procedures. His flight instructor suspected he was training for a Kamikaze flight, so he reported him to the FBI. The Feds arrested Zacarias and found he was traveling on a French passport. They contacted the French government and found that he was a suspected terrorist, but neglected to warn the airlines about Zacarias's Kamikaze training. They neglected to warn the airlines about Project Bojinka; they neglected to warn the airlines about the terrorist messages saying "We're ready to go"; they neglected to tell the airlines about the Mosad's warning; they failed to order the airlines to arm their pilots; they failed to instruct the airlines to place armed marshalls on their planes. You would think that "heads would roll" at the FBI, but so far no one has been demoted or discharged.
Are our intelligence agencies staffed with incompetent men, or was the attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon a replay of the betrayal that took place at Pearl Harbor?
Most Moslems were overjoyed when they heard about the destruction of the World Trade Center because they have been taught to hate our country. In a similar manner, the scenes we saw on television were designed to generate hatred for Moslems. That's why a number of American-born Arabs were assaulted after the twin towers were destroyed.
A few days after the attack, a special edition of Time magazine was sent to my home. There were no advertisements in the magazine, so Time-Warner wasn't compensated for the millions of copies they distributed. Periodicals are published to make a profit, but the special edition was published to promote rage and anger. On the last page, opposite a picture of an American flag standing beside the rubble of the World Trade Center, was an editorial written by Lance Morrow. I've reproduced part of the editorial:
"For once, let's have no fatuous rhetoric about "healing." Healing is inappropriate now, and dangerous. There will be time later for the tears of sorrow.
A day cannot live in infamy without the nourishment of rage. Let's have rage.
What's needed is a unified, unifying Pearl Harbor sort of purple American fury - a ruthless indignation that doesn't leak away in a week or two. . . .
Let America explore the rich reciprocal possibilities of the fatwa. A policy of focused brutality does not come easily to a self-conscious, self-indulgent, contradictory, diverse, humane nation. . . . America needs to relearn . . . why human nature has equipped us all with a weapon . . . called hatred."
The editorial was written to inflame our emotions. Time-Warner Corporation is an integral part of the Globalist Establishment, and the Globalists want a war in the Middle East.
The editorial tells us: "America needs to relearn . . . why human nature has equipped us all with a weapon . . . called hatred." Who should we hate? Osama bin Laden is the most likely villain. He may have been involved in the attack on the World Trade Center, but we can't prove that in a court of law. According to Jane's Foreign Report (which reflects the position of British Intelligence), Aman, Israel's military intelligence service, believes the attack was planned by:
"Lebanese Imad Mughniyeh, head of the special overseas operations for Hizballah, and the Egyptian Dr. Ayman Al Zawahiri, senior member of al Qaeda and possible successor to the ailing Osama bin Laden. . . ."
The U.S. State Department gave the Taliban three days to surrender Osama bin Laden. The Afghans offered to comply if we would show them convincing evidence he was responsible for the attack. We refused. The Taliban offered to tell bin Laden to leave Afghanistan, but we declined the second offer. The Taliban offered to send bin Laden to another Moslem country for trial, but we rejected that offer as well. Why? Because the Taliban's failure to hand over Osama bin Laden is being used to justify the coming war. We supported bin Laden's KLA terrorists in Kosovo, and we helped finance many of his other ventures.
The United States brought the Taliban government to power, and recently gave them $43 million in foreign aid. President Bush alluded to that fact when he said:
"The United States respects the people of Afghanistan - after all, we are currently its largest source of humanitarian aid -. . . ."
If we withdrew our financial support from the Taliban, their regime would collapse within a year. If that is the case, why are we going to war with them? Why don't we finance their opposition, the Northern Alliance, and pay them to close the terrorist camps and capture Osama bin Laden?
President Bush explained our rationale for the coming war:
"Tonight, the United States of America makes the following demands on the Taliban: Deliver to United States authorities all the leaders of al Qaeda who hide in your land. Release all foreign nationals, including American citizens, you have unjustly imprisoned. Protect foreign journalists, diplomats and aid workers in your country. Close immediately and permanently every terrorist training camp in Afghanistan, and hand over every terrorist, and every person in their support structure, to appropriate authorities. Give the United States full access to terrorist training camps, so we can make sure they are no longer operating. . . . These demands are not open to negotiation or discussion. They will hand over the terrorists or they will share in their fate. . . .
Today, dozens of federal departments and agencies, as well as state and local governments, have responsibilities affecting homeland security. These efforts must be coordinated at the highest level. So tonight I announce the creation of a Cabinet-level position reporting directly to me - the Office of Homeland Security.
These measures are essential. But the only way to defeat terrorism as a threat to our way of life is to stop it, eliminate it and destroy it where it grows. . . .
We will come together to . . . track down terror here at home. We will come together to strengthen our intelligence capabilities to know the plans of terrorists before they act, and find them before they strike."
Where will the war be fought? A large part of it will be fought here in the United States, and those who oppose the government will become the enemy. The Office of Homeland Security was created to centralize power in Washington, D.C., and limit the authority of local governments. Moslems consider an attack on Afghanistan an attack on Islam. If we attack the Taliban government, there will be a Jihad in America.
Remember Saddam Hussein's warning:
"Does the United States realize the meaning of opening the storehouses of the universe with the will of the Iraqi people? . . . Does it realize the meaning of every Iraqi becoming a missile that can cross to countries and cities?"
What can you do? You can make 100 copies of this letter and distribute them to your friends and relatives. If everyone who receives this letter makes a hundred copies, and those who receive copies duplicate them, the American people will learn the truth about the attack on the World Trade Center and the coming war.
During the American Revolution, Thomas Paine's ideas were disseminated via letters and pamphlets. His concepts energized the people and changed the course of history. The same thing can happen today if enough people are willing to dedicate their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to the preservation of freedom.
Remember Iain Murray's admonition:
" 'Not to know what has happened in the past is always to remain a child', and childish ignorance is no safe state for those who are called to fight against superhuman powers."
Our battle is not against flesh and blood; we are fighting the "superhuman powers" that rule the world. Has God withdrawn His blessing from America? Will He intervene? I don't know the answer to those questions, but I do know we are to do our best, we are to be Salt and Light, and we are to remain faithful to Him. That must be our quest; that must be our goal.
Please encourage your friends and neighbors to read my book, Brotherhood of Darkness. The information is more relevant today than ever before.
Thank you for your continued support, and your prayers.
Yours in Christ,
